- Akhlys’s eagerly anticipated new album and it's themes.
- The thematic layers of Aoratos’s album, 'Gods without name'.
- The meaning behind Aoratos’s 'Parallax Pt. I and II' and 'Dread Spirit of the Place,' as well as Akhlys’s 'Pnigalion' and 'Incubo.'
- The Abject dread aspect of Genius Loci.
- Sleep paralysis and other disturbing parasomnia.
- Daimon as a ruthless Muse for the artist.
- Sacred Horror and 'Metaphysical panic'.
- The Dark Night of the Soul and harrowing transcendental experiences as means of ultimate catharsis.

Welcome to the second part of Dr. Martin Locker's interview!
Mycelium Signal #1: Enter the Numinous – With Dr. Martin Locker (2/2)
(2024 Remastered Version)
Where Part 1 moved across landscape, material culture, and the archaeology of Pyrenean continuity, Part 2 enters different territory: the metaphysical grammar that underlies it. Locker and Tuonihovi work through the structure of sacred experience — genius loci, the daimon, the egregore, katabasis, and the numinous — tracing the architecture these concepts share and where they diverge. The conversation reaches its furthest point with the German Lebensphilosoph Ludwig Klages, whose critique of rationality as a force hostile to life and soul remains one of the most uncompromising philosophical positions in this territory.
Note: This is Part 2. Part 1 — Perennial Pyrenees] covers Andorra’s history and folklore, the concept of tribe, and Locker’s ethnographic soundscape work.
Key themes in this episode:
Genius loci — the spirit of place as an operative rather than merely poetic concept
The liminal: threshold states, their structural properties, and what passes through them
Daimon and egregore distinguished: personal mediating intelligence versus collective thought-form
The numinous (Rudolf Otto) and sacred horror: the encounter with the wholly other as the irreducible core of religious experience
Katabasis: descent as a structural constant across traditions
The etymology of ”ecstasy” (ek-stasis: standing outside oneself) and what this reveals about the phenomenology of altered states
Sacred geometry and the non-linear experience of time
*Ludwig Klages and the Geist as adversary of the soul: the philosophical case against rationality as life’s antagonist
*Ludwig Klages* (1872–1956) — German philosopher, graphologist, and central figureof the Munich Cosmic Circle (Kosmiker). His principal work, *Der Geist als Widersacherder Seele* (”The Spirit as Adversary of the Soul,” 1929–32), argues that the intellectis not the seat of human wholeness but its enemy — a force that severs consciousnessfrom the living, rhythmic substrate of existence. Klages’ concept of a primordialPelasgian layer beneath European civilisation, and his critique of what he termedthe ”Geistfeindschaft” (hostility of spirit to life), have made him a persistentreference point in esoteric and dark philosophy circles despite — or because of —his radical position outside academic respectability.
Attention: The conversation addresses sacred horror, ontologically provocativeclaims about the nature of place and consciousness, and philosophical positionsthat sit well outside consensus materialism.

1hr 6 min

Welcome to the first episode of Tuonen Portti’s new podcast! Most of the upcoming content will be in Finnish but from time to time we will release English content as well.
Dr. Martin Locker — archaeologist, resident researcher in Andorra, and founder of the Perennial Pyrenees project — is the first guest of the Mycelium Signal. Across two conversations, we move from the material record of a mountain civilisation to the conceptual architecture behind it: what makes a place sacred, what survives the collapse of a culture, and where the boundaries of the archaeological frame break down. Part 1 covers the deep history and folklore of the Pyrenees, the question of tribe as a living rather than historical category, and the ethnographic soundscape recordings Locker has made as a parallel document to his written research.
Attention: *The conversation continues in Part 2: Enter the Numinous, where the discussion moves into genius loci, the liminal, ur-occultism, the numinous, and the German philosopher Ludwig Klages.
Key themes in this episode:
The archaeology and folklore of the Pyrenean range: Andorra as a case study in layered historical continuity
Tribe as a living concept — not merely historical or anthropological, but operative in contemporary highland communities
The relationship between physical landscape and cultural memory
Ethnographic soundscape as documentary method: field recordings as a parallel archive to written scholarship
The Perennial Pyrenees project as a model for multi-disciplinary regional research outside institutional frameworks
